Hello there. I’m Danielle (on right), co-founder, head chef, recipe creator and photographer of Natural Contents.
I’ve always loved to cook. As a little kid, I would whip up creations in my Easy Bake Oven. As I got older, I would spend lots of time in the kitchen with my Italian grandmother learning the ins and outs. We’d make everything from homemade tomato sauce to blueberry muffins. As a teenager, one of my favorite things was to collect recipe cards – oh, how I looked forward to my monthly subscription.
Cooking and baking bring me great joy as there’s something very special about feeding loved ones really good food. I also love sharing my experiences and knowledge in hopes of getting others into the kitchen.
My favorite food is eggs. I could eat them all day, all sorts of ways. I love how easy and versatile they are. I’ll never eat seafood, or any type of fish. I just don’t like it. Can’t take the smell. Don’t like the taste.
My guilty pleasure is baking. I LOVE sweet treats (almost as much as my children and wife). I find it very hard to make just one – two or three treats, at a clip, is more my speed.
My favorite place to shop is the farmers’ markets. There’s just something magical about the whole experience of knowing where your food comes from. There’s simply no better place to find real fresh food.
I’m obsessed with cookbooks, only the ones with photos, though. Oddly, I don’t actually use them – I simply finger through to enjoy the inspiration.
My biggest fans (and critics) are our kids. Seriously, you would think they had culinary Phds.
What I love about our business (other than helping people), I get to work from home and spend every day (24/7 pretty much) with my best friend and wife, Jennifer. Plus, we homeschool our teenage daughter so I get to spend extra time guiding her progress in life as well. Natural Contents nourishes (and challenges) my creative side. I’m always learning something new, every day.
What I hope you get from engaging with us is inspiration. My wish is that we inspire you so much, you invest in your health and wellness. If we can help make that happen, I’m a happy camper.
Let me introduce you to my other half…
Hi! I’m Jennifer (on left), co-founder, editor, prep chef, dishwasher and COO of Natural Contents.
My favorite food is anything that Danielle creates and puts in front of me. I feel like my life is one fabulous meal after the next. Her sweet treats often leave me in a state of bliss. I benefit tremendously from her creativity and passion for food.
Truth is, I’m not a cook at all. And anyone that knows me is well aware, it’s not my strong suit. Once, when the kids were little and Danielle had an evening meeting, I cooked a chicken upside down and used sugar instead of salt to season. An honest mistake from our days of using white sugar – they look the same. The kids still tell the story every opportunity they get.
I’ve learned so much being Danielle’s right-hand gal, but I’m still not next in line for dinner-making as even our daughter has the ability to make meals better than me (thank goodness).
I have, however, mastered the art of cooking eggs and I’m responsible for breakfast-making. At the very least, I can provide our family with an egg breakfast, any time of day. And, I’m told my bagel, egg and turkey bacon sandwiches are legit.
My guilty pleasure would have to lie somewhere between Danielle’s ever special, Chocolate Cream Pie (maybe she’ll release the recipe someday) or the newly gifted, Sweet Potato Cinnamon Rolls (in cookbook). Honestly, my guilty pleasure changes with every amazing treat placed in front of me.
What I love about our business, in addition to working with my wife, is connecting with folks that are trying to make the transition to a healthier lifestyle. I often times feel more in their boat, than in being a creator of Natural Contents. I have learned so much from our business, helping me develop as a person (editing the cookbook was a true educational lesson, all of its own). In addition, I love supporting the local food movement. Danielle and I feel so passionately about local organic farming that I often feel like a cheerleader (which I never was, but Danielle, of course, was the captain).
Best advice I can offer anyone embarking on a wellness journey – find resources that work for you that provide the guidance to make changes toward a happier, healthier life. Small steps lead to big changes. Whatever your family situation, learn each other’s abilities and share in the responsibility of meal-making. Everyone who sits at the table can contribute (one way or another, even if it’s just dish washing). Find your way to a farmers’ market or connect with local farms. Knowing where your food comes from only strengthens your resolve.
