Savory snacks are hard to come by, but these smokey roasted sunflower seeds totally hit the spot. They’re super easy to make and keeping a jar on hand is helpful when you’re ravenous and on the go. A handful or two, a hardboiled egg and some fresh veggies equals lunch – or one heck of a power snack.
Sunflower seeds are high in vitamin E and Copper, low in carbs and surprisingly high in protein (29 grams in 1 cup). Plus, they’re a great alternative to nuts.
So, make a batch – or a double batch – and reach for this no-sugar snack when needed. Guilt free, full of smokey bbq flavor.

Quick Tips: Liquid smoke makes these sunnies sing. I prefer the brand Living Nutritionals All-Natural Pure Liquid Smoke, as it’s made in the most natural way. Hickory and mesquite are burned at a low temp. The smoke is captured and diverted into a tunnel. Then, a stream of distilled water is channeled through picking up the smoke flavor. The liquid is then filtered, removing any sediment. No additional ingredients or additives are used.
