Savory Crunchy Crackers

Clean Recipes

Sometimes…ya just need a snack. The challenge for us – finding a snack that’s not sweet! Since we’re always making sweet treats for the business, you can only imagine how many muffins, cookies and brownies are at our fingertips.

So, off to the kitchen and three recipes later…savory crunchy crackers. Each has its own flavor but all three offer just the right crunch! Since they’re so nutrient dense, it doesn’t take very many to satisfy a snack craving. Plus, these crackers are easy to make, so we highly recommend you make a batch or two and keep them on hand.

And, what’s a cracker without a little schmear?!? Try this vegan Smoky Cashew Spread – again, super easy to make, tasty and perfect with these crunchy crackers!

Turmeric Swiss Crackers
gluten free, grain free, soy free, egg free

Use This…
1 cup Tierra Farm Organic Sunflower Seeds
2 tablespoons Bob’s Red Mill Arrowroot Flour
1 teaspoon Simply Organic Turmeric
1 teaspoon Eden Sea Salt
¼ teaspoon Simply Organic Onion Granules
¼ teaspoon Simply Organic Garlic Granules
2 tablespoons Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
½ cup grass-fed, organic, raw Swiss cheese, grated
¼ cup warm water

Do This…
Instructions apply to each cracker

  1. Preheat oven to 350º. Line baking sheet with parchment.
  2. In a food processor (fitted with the S blade), combine all dry ingredients. Process until broken-up and powdery.
  3. Add wet ingredients. Process until “dough” is formed.
  4. Scoop “dough” onto parchment. Using a second sheet of parchment, cover “dough” and roll flat. Flatten as much as possible – basically to desired cracker thickness. The thicker they are, the longer they take to cook/crisp.
  5. Once rolled out, take a pizza cutter and cut into strips – vertical and horizontal. Again, how far you space them apart is up to you – think cracker size.
  6. Remove top parchment, and leave cracker “dough” on bottom parchment – do not break up crackers.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes (depending on cracker thickness). I like to start with the lowest time, check them, remove any outer thin crackers and continue baking the middle-thicker crackers till solid/crisp.
  8. Allow crackers to fully cool, break apart and store in an air-tight container in your pantry – crackers will last 2+ weeks.
